GOVERNOR SERIAKE DICKSON DECLARES WAR ON CORRUPTION

Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson has declared zero tolerance for corruption in the state.
Hon. Dickson made this declaration shortly after he was sworn-in along with his Deputy Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah at the Peace Park in Yenagoa.
He said this is with a view to enshrining positive values such as transparency accountability and value re-orientation among all institutions and functionaries of government at all levels.
The Governor, who maintained that, tackling corruption would be one of the cardinal objectives of his restoration agenda, stated that, he will offer exemplary leadership.
According to Hon. Dickson, the resources of the state would be utilized to fund education, construction of roads and agriculture.
He pointed out that the days of enrichment without labour and funding the greed and avarice of a few at the expense of the development of the people were over.
Hon. Dickson also noted that his administration would take steps to strengthen transparency and accountability through the publication of all revenues accruing to the state.
He pointed out that, under his restoration agenda, government will also undertake human capital development.
The Governor announced the introduction of a free and compulsory education from primary to secondary school level in the state with emphasis on computer literacy and science and technology.
Highlighting infrastructural development as one of the cardinal principles of his restoration agenda, the governor promised that completion of the 3 senatorial roads will be given priority attention.
To achieve this, Hon. Dickson underscored the need to build synergy with the Federal Government and other agencies to ensure overall development of the state.
The governor, who acknowledged the need to create an atmosphere of peace and security for development to thrive, also expressed government’s commitment to the protection communities from all forms of environmental degradation.
Citing the recent incident of a gas explosion at Koluama, Hon. Dickson stated government’s willingness to partner with all corporate entities operating in the state while insisting on the highest standards of responsible corporate citizenship.
Dedicating his electoral victory to the people of the state, Hon. Dickson expressed appreciation to all whose support and material contributions led to his emergence as governor of the state.
