ACTING GOVERNOR BINABO SOLICITS SUPPORT FOR PDP

The People of Olodiama Clan in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have been urged to come out en-masse to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during this Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Acting Governor of the state, Chief Nestor Binabo made the call when he led a high-powered delegation of the party to pay homage to the Ibenanaowei of Olodiama Kingdom, King Napoleon Orianzi at his palace in Olugbobiri.
Chief Binabo commended the chiefs and people of the Kingdom for their steadfastness and support to the party right from its inception.
While urging them to vote massively for the party, the Acting Governor also enjoined the people to keep the peace during and after the election in order to attract more democratic dividends to the area.
Speaking earlier, the Bayelsa State PDP flagbearer, Mr. Seriake Dickson also canvassed for the support of the Olodiama people, noting that, if given the mandate, his administration would make concerted efforts at providing critical infrastructure, such as roads, educational and health institutions in the area.
Mr. Dickson specifically promised to expedite work on the three senatorial roads in the state with a view to opening up the hinterlands.
To avoid lopsidedness, the PDP governorship candidate said his administration would ensure the even distribution of social amenities across the state.
Also speaking, Chief Whip of the House of Assembly, Mr. Konbowei Benson called on the people to ensure continuity, assuring that they would be better off in the next PDP government.
Responding, the Ibenanaowei of Olodiama Clan, King Napoleon Orianzi thanked Chief Nestor Binabo and his entourage for the visit.
King Orianzi assured the party of his people’s continued support. He identified road as the most pressing need of the clan, and therefore implored the in-coming government to build roads to link the area.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of battle regalia including a sword to the PDP flag-bearer and his running mate, Rear Admiral John Jonah (rtd).
Chief Amaka Ogona made the presentation on behalf of the traditional rulers.
Dignitaries who accompanied the Acting Governor on the homage include Secretary to the State Government, Professor Millionaire Abowei, PDP Chairman James Dugo, former Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha and Acting Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Fini Angaye, among others.
