ACTING GOV. BINABO TASKS NEW NDDC LEADERSHIP ON SYNERGY

Bayelsa Acting Governor, Chief Nestor Binabo has urged the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to create synergy between government and the commission in the execution of projects.
Chief Binabo made the remark at the formal reception of the NDDC chairman, Dr. Tarila Tebepah at the Kolokuma/Opokuma Council Secretariat Complex in Kaiama.
The collaboration, he noted will eliminate project duplication and fast track development of the state.
The Acting Governor also enjoined the Commission to strive to spread developmental projects across the Local Government Areas for the benefit of the rural dwellers.
Describing Dr. Tebepah as an amiable person, Chief Binabo expressed optimism that he will develop excellent working relationship with members of the commission.
Also speaking at the event, chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Lawrence Ekpebu described Dr. Tebepah as an enterprising young man who has distinguished himself in his profession and public service.
Ambassador Ekpebu also urged the NDDC and Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) to provide automatic scholarship to youths to study in the areas of oil and gas as well as undertake the dredging of communities that are flood prone.
The acting chairman of the Kolokuma/Opokuma Elders Assembly, Retired Commander Koku Imananagha said the reception was to demonstrate the appreciation of the Kolokuma/Opokuma people over the appointment of their son.
While thanking the NDDC for the provision of roads and electricity in the area, Commander Imananagha appealed to the commission to ensure the completion of abandoned projects in the local government area.
They include the Kaiama, Sabagreia and Opokuma shorecline protection projects as well as construction of a bridge across the Taylor Creek at Polaku.
Responding, the NDDC chairman, Dr. Tarila Tebepah thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for his appointment, stating that he will not betray the confidence reposed in him.
The reception was organized by the Kolokuma/Opokuma Elders Assembly.
