ACTING GOVERNOR NESTOR BINABO WANTS STRONG DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS

ACTING GOVERNOR NESTOR BINABO WANTS STRONG DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS
Acting Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Nestor Binabo says Bayelsans have a crucial role to play in current efforts at building strong and enduring democratic institutions in the country.
Chief Binabo stated this while fielding questions from reporters shortly after casting his vote in the 2012 Bayelsa State governorship election at his country home, Okumbiri in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.
He enjoined the citizenry to see themselves as an integral part of the democratic process, imbibe its core values as well as propagate them to the larger society.
According to him, as a growing democracy, such attributes are needed to propel the country’s rating in the comity of democratic nations in the world.
On the late arrival of election materials in some parts of the state, Chief Binabo blamed it largely on the riverine nature of parts of the state, noting that areas accessible by land got their materials well on time.
The Acting Governor also commended the people of the state for their peaceful disposition before and during the election, adding that reports from different parts of the state were indicative of a smooth conduct of the exercise.
He also expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements put in place for the election and commended the various security agencies for their commitment.
