VICE CHAIRMAN IMPEACHED

The Vice Chairman of Southern Ijaw local government council, Mr. Felix Bonny-Ayah has been impeached by the legislative arm of the council on allegation of misconduct, insubordination and abuse of office. The Councilor representing ward seven, Donny Sigah moved the motion for the impeachment saying the development followed the report of a seven-man investigative panel set up by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kate Abiri and in line with section twenty-four of the Bayelsa state local government law 2006.
The Councilor representing ward seven, Osaribe Amaebi seconded the motion. He lamented the set-back the council had suffered from the administrative laxity of the Vice Chairman, maintaining that the impeachment was in the best interest of the council and people of the area.
The legislative arm of the council has elected Mr. Donny Sigah as its Chief Whip while the council representing ward five, Digifa Alabo was elected Deputy Majority Leader. The Councilors passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman of the council, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe-Idaower for his pragmatic and exemplary leadership qualities.

  1. The intrigues of Bayelsa politics of today will continue to hunt us years from now.
I see a divided state yearning for relevance in the scheme of things all because of the ambitions of a few. The microcosms of the political elite are not left out and the result is disorder especially because they too are fighting against the tide.
We are waiting for the judgement that will redefine Bayelsa politics.
