FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CALLED ON TO TAKE PRO-ACTIVE STEPS TO END THE ONGOING STRIKE

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Niger Delta University (NDU), Dr. Beke Sese has called on the Federal Government to take pro-active deliberate steps to end the ongoing ASUU strike. According to Dr. Sese, the strike was embarked upon to press home their demand for improvement in conditions of service, University autonomy, funding and review of retirement age of academic staff from sixty-five to seventy years among others.
The agreement was reached between ASUU and Federal government in year 2009 which was breached by the Federal government. Dr. Sese appealed to parents, guardians and students to be patient and show understanding.
