SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT (SSA) ON DISABILITY SPEAKS

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) has drawn the attention of the public especially aspirants of political parties to the activities of some members led by Omosinizibe, Taritimi, Friday Otobo, Sokari and one Shedrack who have been claiming to be acting on behalf of the association. They had visited the Change Advocacy Party (CAP) candidate, Chief Imoro Kubor claiming to be acting on the association’s behalf.
In a statement, the SSA Miss Timi Ziriki noted that PLWD are all over the eight local government areas of the state, stressing that the Governor’s position in making life meaningful for all Bayelsans also includes people with disability.
The statement lamented that this group of persons were also alleged to have vandalized the residence of the SSA, Ministry of Gender and blocked government house gate thereby disrupting the peace of the of the state government. It also said, Chief Timipre Sylva is the first Governor since the creation of the state to create an office for PLWD in order to give them a sense of belonging, noting that the creation has led to the reduction of stigmatization and discrimination of persons with disability.
