GOVERNOR SYLVA APPEALS TO CORPORATE BODIES

At the launch of the Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem appeal week at the Gloryland Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, Chief Timipre Sylva appealed to corporate bodies, non-governmental organizations as well as public spirited individuals to generously donate for the wellbeing of the Legionnaires and families of the fallen heroes.

According to the Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei, the launch was necessary to take care of those alive as well as be our brother’s keepers. He said the government of Bayelsa State will continue to appreciate the selfless service of the Legionnaires and pledge its resolve to empower the families of the fallen heroes. And urged the leadership of the state’s command of the Nigeria Legion to always maintain peace among members and made judicious use of the money realized.

Chairman of the State’s chapter of the Nigeria Legion, Elder Igirigi Effiom expressed appreciation to the Governor and his Deputy as well as others who redeemed their pledges last year.
