FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL

Petroleum marketers immediately adjusted their pumps to one hundred and forty and one hundred and fifty naira per litre following the announcement of the removal of fuel subsidy by the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA).
A trip to various motor parks and water fronts in Yenagoa revealed that prices in fares have doubled or tripled. From Yenagoa to Port Harcourt is about one thousand five hundred, Yenagoa to Abuja is now five thousand five hundred naira as against four thousand five hundred naira while Yenagoa to Lagos is now six thousand naira.
Within the metropolis, commuters are stranded as the increase caught them unawares. For instances, a trip from Yenagoa to Imiringi has risen from one hundred and fifty naira to three hundred naira while from Tombia junction to Ekeki park now cost one hundred naira by taxi. From Akenfa to Azikoro junction is now two hundred and fifty naira as against one hundred and fifty naira on motor bike popularly called Okada.
An anonymous respondent also blamed government for being insensitive towards the plight of the citizenry. He expressed disappointment that the recently increased worker’s wage which some states are still struggling to pay is of no use since all the resources will be expended on transportation
