GOVERNMENT REASSURES ALL NORTHERNERS AND NON-INDIGENES OF THEIR SAFETY

The Bayelsa State government has reassured all Northerners and Non-indigenes of their safety and that there was no need to panic. In a statement, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Chief Nathan Egba-Ologo said northerners, especially the Muslim community in the state, and all non indigenes should not be afraid of being attacked as Bayelsans are peace loving and hospitable people. He added that the current security challenges in some parts of the country is not peculiar to Nigeria and will phase out with time.
Chief Egba said Bayelsans respect the secularity enshrined in the Nineteen ninety-nine constitution of Nigeria which explains why there has not been any crisis arising from differences in religion or worship. He also urged them to report any threat to their lives or properties to security agents and that they should go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.
