REACTIONS OVER FUEL PRICE BY MARKETERS

Reactions have continued to trail the hike in fuel price by marketers in the face of the removal of fuel subsidy by the government. It was confirmed today that most of the independent marketers now sell fuel between one hundred and forty/ one hundred and fifty naira, per litre.

Speaking on the development, a civil servant who prefers to be anonymous,  appealed to the federal government to have a rethink on the fuel subsidy withdrawal. At one of the filling stations, the officer -in-charge, Mr. Richard. K. who spoke on behalf of Independent Petroleum Marketers said initially, they budgeted two point one million for a truck load of fuel but with the removal of subsidy is now about four million naira a truck.
In his comment, the state operations  controller of the Department of Petroleum Resources Dr. Duncan Eradiri assured Bayelsans of the Department’s commitment to ensure that products allocated to the state were not diverted.
On the new pump price the operations controller urged marketers to maintain the government approved price of fourteen naira.
