THE NEW BOARD OF NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, NDDC


Governor Timipre Sylva stated that his administration looks forward to a mutual and a beneficial working with the New Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC while Dr. Tarila Tebepah, paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Yenagoa.
Represented by his Deputy, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, he stressed that NDDC and the state government needs to collaborate and work as a team in order to avoid duplication of projects and prioritized the development programme.
The Governor commended the NDDC chairman for making Bayelsa his first part of call among the nine oil producing states, noting that Bayelsans are proud to have one of theirs at the helm of Affairs of such an important Board. Governor Sylva further described the appointment of Dr. Tebepah as well deserved and express optimism that he would do his best to ensure that the state benefits from the commission during his tenure, as well as assisting the commission to perform its duties in the state.
He reminded him of the dearth of infrastructural development in the Niger Delta region and charged the New Board to generate fresh strategies to lift the region out of its present level of development.
Mr. Tarila Tebepah noted that the commission needs the support and cooperation of governments of all the oil producing states. He therefore solicited for favourable working partners with the state government as the new board begins its assignment. He appealed for land from the state government to enable the Commission effectively carry out training programmes for youths especially in areas of agriculture and information.
