GOVERNMENT EXPERESSED CONCERN HAVEN EXCLUDED GOVERNOR SYLVA FROM PDP PRIMARIES

Government has reacted to media reports in which  the Acting Chairman of the People Democratic Party, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje gave reasons why Governor Timipre Sylva was excluded from the governorship primaries.
Report says, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje was quoted as saying the alleged “sins” would be made public in due course. In a statement the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Doifie Ola on behalf of Governor Sylva challenged Alhaji Baraje to disclose the “sin”
According to the statement there was no time Alhaji Bakaje discussed the so called sins with the Governor. This indeed is against the backdrop that the PDP national chairman had at various fora given different reasons on why Governor Sylva was illegally excluded from the primaries without any justification, which paves way for attempts to cook up reasons for the actions.
It was observed that the Acting PDP chairman comments that Chief Sylva is not the first sitting governor to be disqualified was not unfortunate as the reference to Anambra State Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju cannot be compared with what is happening in Bayelsa State.
Government Sylva advised the party leadership to draw useful lessons from the Anambra debacle and reminded Alhaji Baraje, that the costly mistake caused the PDP to lose the state and claimed lives. He described the last Saturday PDP Guber-primaries as a sham and far from what democracy entails.
Governor Sylva stressed that the illegal exercise cannot stand because Mr. President and all the statutory delegates-seven members of the National Assembly from the state, all twenty two members of the House of Assembly on the platform of PDP, and all the eight local government were not present.
