A SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP BY NAFDAC IN YENAGOA



Governor Timipre Sylva gave the assurance to partner with National Agency for Food, Drug, Administration and Control (NAFDAC) at a stakeholders sensitization workshop organized by NAFDAC in Yenagoa. Representing the Governor was the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Benson Dadigi who further stated government will continue to look into the plights of NAFDAC and assist the agency in carrying out its activities effectively in the state. The Director General of the agency, Dr. Paul Orhii said NAFDAC’s mandate is to regulate and control the manufacturing, importation, exportation as well as distribution and advertising on the sale of food, drugs, chemical among others. Also speaking, the state chairman of NAFDAC, Mr. Godwin Akwa called on Bayelsans to key into the programme of NAFDAC in sensitizing the people on how to know fake drugs as well as the sale and use of drugs, food and other related products in the state. Meanwhile, a free eye screening exercise will commence tomorrow at the Diete Koki Memorial Hospital Opolo.
