GOVERNOR SYLVA RECIEVES A DOCTORATE DEGREE FROM UBIS SWITZERLAND



His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva was honoured last thursday (22/09/11) with a Doctorate Degree in International Relations from the University of Business and Studies based in Geneva, Switzerland for His investment in education and educational infrastructure, efforts in establishing peace, conflict resolution in Bayelsa State, also for investing in the youths of Bayelsa State through training programmes both at home and abroad, providing scholarships and grants for enrollment in study. Mr. Roberto Bonino Dean UBIS stated in His speech that His Excellency has been investing in educational infrastructure since he came into office. His establishment of the Nigerian Law School campus was what made UBIS notice him initially. Once they looked at his records closely, they quickly found out that he was blazing trails in educational infrastructure and investment in human capital of the State. In his welcoming address Nigeria's Amb. to Switzerland also spoke of the dynamism, dedication and brilliance of the Governor Sylva and He also stated that Nigeria is witnessing today a young breed of leaders starting from the President and to Gov Sylva who can measure and compete on the world scale with other leaders, His Excellency was decorated with his degree by the Dean of UBIS Roberto Bonino, and President UBIS board Patrick Faniel in front of a packed crowd of dignitaries and captains of industries including including Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland and UN Office in Geneva Amb. U. H. Orjiako, and notably there were Manmoh Makhni CEO of India House; Johnnie Quaicoe CEO, Indigo group; I. Okoli, Faisal Bank; Urquliart Sturt, CEO Drakker Luxury Products and others.

  1. Change does not necessarily assure progress, but progress implacably requires change. Education is essential to change, for education creates both new wants and the ability to satisfy them.

    Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.
