EKPETIAMA POLITICAL FRONT DECLARES SOLIDARITY

A body known as the Ekpetiama Political Front in Yenagoa Local Government Area says the people of the clan are solidly behind the leadership of the State Deputy Governor Werinipre Seibarugu. Rising from an extra ordinary meeting, the people said they are committed to his leadership because of the giant developmental strides in the areas of infrastructure and human resource.

The communiqué endorsed by Mr. Bubaraye Ogiriki and Comrade Royal Kalaiti emphasized all honest and hard working people to be committed to the leadership of Seibarugu. According to the communiqué, the Ekpetiama Political Front is in consultation with other stakeholders including”Our collective interest”, “ Ekpeitama Elders Forum”, Gbarain/Ekpetiama Demecrats as well as Gbarain/Ekpetiama Grassroots Movement and highly revered traditional rules on the way forward.

THE SSA NEW MEDIA AND SOCIAL NETWORKING URGE SUPPORTERS OF GOVERNOR SYLVA TO BE STEADFAST IN THEIR SOLIDARITY

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New media and Social Networking, Miss Oyanbo Peace Owei has called on his supporters to register their presence at the campaign office.

In a statement, Miss Oyanbo Said the campaign office will afford Governor Timipre Sylva’s numerous supporters the opportunity to keep abreast of his developmental strides in the state.

She therefore urged supporters of Governor Sylva, friends, associates, well wishers and facebook friends of Governor Sylva to identify with him, adding that the Governor appreciates their solidarity.

RESTORING FORTUNE OF BAYELSA STATE

It has been described  that Governor Timipre Sylva is a leader competent enough to move the state to another level with the policy of continuity. Representing the Governor was Mr. Panebi Fortune who stated this during an interview with news men in his office in yenagoa. He noted that Chief Sylva has been able to complete all the abandoned projects of the previous administration including the INC building, the State Library building, access road, the Banquet Hall, Government House, the Gloryland Castle, the secretariat Annex One and the transformation of Samson Siasia’s Sport Complex, amongst others.

According to Mr. Panebi, some of the projects embarked on by the Sylva’s administration range from successful completion and take-off of the South-South campus of the Nigerian Law School, Yenagoa, construction and completion of the first phase of the Glory Drive, construction of the three model secondary schools in the three senatorial zones in the state. Others are the full implementation of the MDGs programmes in the state, construction of well over fifty- six internal roads in the state capital, the building of the Diete-Koki Memorial Hospital Opollo as well as the construction of the King Malla Sasime Health centre, Igbogene and the Bayelsa Stimulus Scheme.

While appreciating the strides, Mr. Panebi stressed that one of the landmark achievements of the Sylva’s administration is his bold step at reforming the Civil Service and the entire institution of the governance.

EKEREMOR SHOWS SOLIDARITY FOR GOVERNOR SYLVA

The Governor’s Special Representative in Ekeremor Local Government Area, Mr. Orubebe Ogeibiri has lauded the people of the area for their show of solidarity to Governor Timipre Sylva despite the trying moments. Speaking with airport correspondents on his way back from Abuja, Mr. Ogeibiri said the support given to the Governor is a manifestation of the love the people have for him and having Ekeremor as one of his major support base in the state.

He stressed the need for the people to remain committed by renewing their faith in the present administration under Governor Sylva and his Deputy Werinipre Seibarugu. Describing the achievements of the administration as monumental, the Governor’s special representative particularly thanked Governor Sylva for the on-going Aleibiri Tuomo road construction and other developmental projects in the area. He also commended the Governor’s nomination of Mr. Fitzegerald Olorogun to replace Mr. Etifa Bekeakpo who resigned as Commissioner for Youth, Conflict Resolution and Employment Generation. On the PDP primaries in the state, the Governor’s representative said the case was now before the court of appeal in Abuja and that it is only the courts of the land that can make pronouncement on who becomes the candidate of the party.

IMPROVING HEALTH SECTOR IN THE STATE

Health Minister Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu made known during a courtesy call on Governor Timipre Sylva at Government House, Yenagoa that the Federal Government is planning to establish a school of midwifery in the state, which is expected to help reduce and control maternal mortality by training midwives to serve the people better.

Professor Chukwu noted that since the only federal present in the health sector is the federal medical centre FMC Yenagoa, effort will be made to hasten up work at the hospital. After an inspection of the Melford Okilo Memorial Hospital, Yenagoa, the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu expressed delight and commended the state government for embarking on a project so magnitude, which according to him, will promote the health of the citizenry.

He said when completed, the hospital can compete favourably with the best health institutions with other part of the country. He therefore called on the state government to employ the right personnel as well as put an effective monitoring and management system for effective health service delivery.

Earlier Governor Timipre Sylva had said his administration will replicate federal government’s effort to improve health sector in the state. Represented by his Deputy, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu said to achieve this; the state government was also committed to partnering with the federal government. He however, urged the federal government not to relent in its desire to provide health for all.

The Governor pointed out that one of the cardinal objectives of his administration is to ensure that the people of the state have access to good healthcare facilities.

THE NEW BOARD OF NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, NDDC

Governor Timipre Sylva stated that his administration looks forward to a mutual and a beneficial working with the New Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC while Dr. Tarila Tebepah, paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Yenagoa.

Represented by his Deputy, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, he stressed that NDDC and the state government needs to collaborate and work as a team in order to avoid duplication of projects and prioritized the development programme.

The Governor commended the NDDC chairman for making Bayelsa his first part of call among the nine oil producing states, noting that Bayelsans are proud to have one of theirs at the helm of Affairs of such an important Board. Governor Sylva further described the appointment of Dr. Tebepah as well deserved and express optimism that he would do his best to ensure that the state benefits from the commission during his tenure, as well as assisting the commission to perform its duties in the state.

He reminded him of the dearth of infrastructural development in the Niger Delta region and charged the New Board to generate fresh strategies to lift the region out of its present level of development.

Mr. Tarila Tebepah noted that the commission needs the support and cooperation of governments of all the oil producing states. He therefore solicited for favourable working partners with the state government as the new board begins its assignment. He appealed for land from the state government to enable the Commission effectively carry out training programmes for youths especially in areas of agriculture and information.

"UP CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE" BY NOLLYWOOD STARS

International and Local Movies Stars met with Governor Sylva with a view to showcasing the state’s tourism potentials to the outside world. Speaking at the meeting held at Government House, Yenagoa, Chief Timipre Sylva assured that government would provide the necessary support for the production of the film titled, ”Up Creek Without A Paddle”, by a Nollywood Producer/Director, Mr. Tarila Thompson.

The film which is about the Amnesty programme, is intended to celebrate Governor Sylva and the role he played in the state in the Niger Delta. The Governor noted that his administration has been hosting the Africa Movie Academy Award, AMAA with the intention of making the state hub of film production.

Governor Sylva pointed out that the state possesses a lot of potentials locations for shooting good movies and urged Nollywood producers to take advantage of them. Mr. Tarila Thompson stated that the visit was to formally intimate Governor Sylva with the plans to shoot the film in the state. Assiatant Director Mr. Emma Ayalogu said shooting on the film has commenced near Oloibiri in Ogbia Local Government Area and plans are on to do same in Sampou and possibly other sites in Brass.

A South Africa Actor, Andrew Mckenzie said though he has not participated in any Nollywood Movie before but he is excited to feature in the film. Also a renown Nollywood Actor , Mr. Ernest Azuzu said this was his first time in Yenagoa, adding that the state is peaceful and hospitable contrary to reports about Bayelsa.
